So lately my mom and I have been talking about my [very distant] future wedding.
The thing is, my dad has never really been around for me and when he was, he was drunk. I know that he is trying to change [mostly for his grandchildren] but I have never been able to trust him to show up to the important events in my life; so I asked my mommy if when I do get married she would walk me down the isle... and she said 'no'.
I was shocked.
I want my mommy to be actively involved in the wedding, so do you all have any ideas??
BTW - I have not given up hope on my dad but I would like a back up plan. lol
[This is in the future, I am not currently engaged, but I hopefully I will by the time I graduate college... soon]
I was really close to my grandma and if my dads weren't there to do it then I would have asked her!
My mom and dad both walked my sister down the aisle. I went to the courthouse lol
GrandDad? an uncle? Hey, you've got plenty of time. You'll know who to choose when the time comes. Just relax and enjoy your life.
Do you have any close relatives or friends? I'm not sure who else. My mom walked me down the aisle because my dad isn't too fond of my DH. If she wouldn't have...I would have asked my FIL or BIL.
If you're not even engaged why bother worry about this??
Im not really worried about it. It was just something that came up in our conversation and I actually really sad when she said 'no'.
And to a previous poster, she told me that her reason for saying no was because she just wants to watch. She said that its not the mothers job to walk her daughter down the isle.
