What the f*** are they doing with our money? **Update in red**
Long story short since my boyfriend and I are not married, when we had our daughter the child support agency automatically got involved. But we live together and he does MORE than his share to take care of our daughter and I didnt feel the need to go after him for child support. After doing the runaround with them for well over a month we finally got them to draw up custody and placement as being 50/50 with no child support required. Which we thought was the end of it. Well normally we dont even look at his paystubs because its direct deposit. We are going to be getting our taxes done next week so I was gathering up everything (with him being a trucker, our taxes are VERY complicated) which included his last paystub of last year. I happened to look at it and realized that there was a garnishment of $97.89. So I called him to ask about it, and he called payroll. They said that it was a garnishment for child support for brown county (where we live). Now I have not been recieving any child support, and our daughter is the only child he has. I looked through old pay stubs and they have been deducting the same amount since early october of last year. So I want to know where the hell that money has been going? I called the child support agency and left a message and they havent called me back yet. All I can say is we better be getting every penny of that money back or heads are going to roll! Sorry this got so long, I just needed to vent to keep me from going down there myself and killing someone
So the lady from the agency called and asaid that it is being garnished because our daughter is on the state insurance according to their records. Which we never signed her up for, Neither of us ever signed any consent, we never got an insurance card, and we dont need it. We have all 3 of us on a private insurance plan. She said that she would look into getting us an insurance card for Kira and didnt seem to want to hear it that WE DONT WANT OR NEED IT!!! She said that we couldn't get our money back because the state had already been paying the insurance premiums. I don't see how this is even legal and I am f****** pissed. We are planning on calling a lawer tomorrow to see if there is anything we can do about this.
I am a 24 year old, breastfeeding, baby wearing, non cio, will be ERF, bisexual, martial arts teaching, trying to do everything because her SO is a trucker, working mommy who will do damn near anything for my boyfriend and our beautiful daughter Kira Elizabeth! BUT I also realize that my choices fit my family and believe that everyone should do what fits theirs. Respect me and my choices and I will gladly do the same. ~Allie~

If you are on any state aid I think it goes to reimbursement for that.

Only if you are on Cash Assistance.... not foodstamps or health insurance.

wow, i didnt think they could just get themselves involoved
Quoting alexhuntercody:are you on any state aid? I know in Ohio if you get TNAF the state takes child support automatically. Also, is it possible there could potentially be another child you just arent' aware of?
Thats what I am wondering. Payroll or someone at his job would have made him aware of the deduction.
We aren't on anything. I got WIC for the first 2/3 months of my pregnancy, but then he moved in and we make WAY too much to qualify for any aid., which is obviously a very good thing! And no it is not possible he has another child. I just found this out a few hours ago and called, so im figuring I should give them at least a few hours before I totally freak out on them.
