My husband is quitting smoking. Hes being a total dipshit. A real certifiable ASS HOLE.

HELP!! How long does this last? When will the moodiness go away and I get my husband back?

I cant stand him.

Don't get me wrong. I dont smoke. And I dont want him too.

But I was tempted to offer him a pack last night in the midst of his chaos.

I wont let my DH quit, lol, he tried once and I nearly killed the asshole!

Hes down to a pack a week, which IMO is just fine, granted he only smokes at work and changes his clothes as soon as he gets home.

I hear the first 2 weeks is the worst. When my mom quit she used a straw to help with the hand to mouth problems.

I tried it and it isn't the same but it kind of helps. I wasn't motivated enough and  Istill smoke but if he is commited the straw might help a little bit.

I'd say 2-3 weeks. but he also has to find a hobby to kind of match his smoking habits-- like the straw thing, gum to keep his mouth busy, etc

Nicotine leaves your system after 3 days.  So after 3 days there isn't a PHYSICAL withdrawal.   But it can take weeks or even months for the mental withdrawals to go away.  I quit smoking and was fine after about 2 weeks.

I didn't do anything like that but when my sister quit, she kept a rubberband on her wrist.  Everytime she got a craving, she's pop her wrist with the rubberband.  She said it worked great.

TattedMommy's right. Technically you're free after 3 days. But the mental part really depends on the person. First time I quit (like11 yrs ago) it took me forever not to want it. This time (quitting because we are trying for number 2!! and it's just nasty) it's been one day and I'm not really missing it. We'll see and good luck to you both!

good luck
