what's the youngest you would leave a child alone?

It would depend on the child but the youngest I think woud be 11.  Catch me in a few years when my oldest is 11 and I may change it to 16...

Leave alone? As in leave alone in a room? Or leave alone in the house? In a room my 16 month old plays in her room while I clean. But in the house at 12. If I feel they can be trusted. If I dont think I can trust them(depending on behaviors and such) then they will come with me.

I voted 14..only coz 16 wasn't on there..lol.....No I guess 14 is OK for an hour..I trust my kids..but the crime in the city is getting worse and I am afraid of being burgled...We live in a nice house in a quiet neighbourhood and 3 houses on our block have been robbed so far this year...I would freak if someone got in my house with my kids there alone....

It would really depend on the child. My sister is 12 and just now starting to stay home alone but I think for my son it will be around 9. I started babysitting my newborn sister at 9 and everything was always fine.

i will have to decide when it gets to that point... i was left home at a very very young age but i knew what to do and what not to do. i was riding public trans at 9 to go to the mall with me and friends.

I voted 12... being home alone is a BIG responsibility. Too many things can happen to a little kid thats not ready for that.

I think it depends on the child, but about 14 in general.

In our state it is illegal to leave a child under a certain age home alone.

just because i'am such a paranoid person, all 3 of my children will not be left alone for any amount of time until at least 14. my brother and i where left alone when we were 7 and 8, and we did some crazy things that we are lucky we didn't get seriously hurt!
