So, yesterday I was in Target with my MIL and we overheard a kid talking about Twilight. The following dialog occured...
My MIL: "UGH! I just despise that Twilight stuff. It's just evil!" (Mind you, she's a very religious and devout Christian.)
Me: "well, I've actually read all of the books and seen the movies, and I don't see how it's evil at all. It's a love story."
MIL: "oh common, Katie! How can vampires be good? They are not of God. I think too many people are trying to disguise bad things into good, nowadays."
Me: "Well, seeing as though those creatures aren't real, I don't see how they could be evil. That's just my opinion."
Then, our conversation just sorta ended.....
I just don't understand her POV. I was raised Christian, although I consider myself more spiritual than any specific religion. I love the Twilight series. I just don't understand why some people believe that it's evil, when it's a make-believe story..................... Am I missing something?
Yeah, I don't get it either. My friend recently read me the riot act, and told me I was allowing evil take over my life by reading the books and watching the movies! LOL!
Hmm..Never heard this. I *guess* I can understand why they don't like Harry Potter, but Twilight. Um, what?? I love both, but I'm not religious, so I have no idea.
Since God created man and man created the Transformers, the Transformers are like a gift from God Randal!
LOL sorry, Clerks II came to mind when I read this.
Yeah, I see what you mean... but they're just stories/movies-- pretend! It's not like they actually exist... therefore, I don't see how people can actually percieve them as evil. Doesn't make any sense to me....
Quoting earthgoddess669:Bc, usually vampires are related to Evil, dark. Like the old vampire movies, crosses hurt them their eyes, and holy water burn them, etc. kwim? But, I love Twilight also and I became Pagan and my family blamed Twilight. rofl!
I have also read all the books, and i have not gotten the end of it because my brother is the same way totally disagrees because of his religion.. BUT like you said it is not real, it is a fun, love story and that is it... BUT everyone has a right to feel what they want as long as they don't force it down my throat.. hahaha..
I totally agree.
