Work from home/earn xtra money/save money by "joining"? Let us know what you do!

I'm just curious what some of you mom's do to earn extra money or just on the side for fun (where any added money is a bonus)!

I would LOVE to hear input from others on what works for them and why, as to make this sort of a reference for all interested moms on here!  What do you like best about what you do?  Do you make that much money or just do it for fun/sanity (to get out of the house), or both?  What is the general info on your product?

What started this was I've been thinking of an idea for myself lately that I think would work for me and I'd enjoy as a home-based, part time business (I already work 4 days a week in front of a computer so I was looking for something social and fun) in my rural area.

Let us have it: PLEASE SHARE YOURS! And No Worries if Someone else posted what you do......POST ANYWAYS so we can see how popular a product is or maybe what area you are in (for reference).

Note: this post is not meant to try to get people to join some club or "team" under you, or to push/sell your product (though a sale may come from this): please do not pressure people.  You may talk about your product but keep it as information and why it works for you, not a place for you to make a buck: let them contact you if they want to learn more that would ultimately benefit you.  The main purpose of this post is just to give people some ideas of what is available or what they might be interested in doing for a possible small business, whether for fun or income.

I "sell" mary kay...............but I really only do it so I can get the discount for myself (though I have made some dough on it here and there: I just don't push it to people).

It costs around $100-$200 (not sure now as I don't have to pay that anymore) to join initially (and you get some product for that cost) and as long as you stay "current", you do not have to pay that again. To stay "current", you only have to place one order a year (worth $600 retail, which is only $300 wholesale on cosmetics and most other items) in order to stay active as a consultant.

I don't primarily do this for the money (though I do sometimes sell stuff and make a small amount of extra dough), but I do it to get my stuff at cost and SAVE MYSELF money.  It is NOT hard to do this (save yourself money) for someone that uses Mary Kay for their main beauty/skin care hygiene regimen.

just a note: This is NOT what I was talking about in my orig post of what I was thinking about doing for some extra cash.......as my area is flooded with Mary Kay sales ladies.

Right now I am a Scentsy consultant. I love the company and the fact that I can leave my warmers going 24/7. I also make specialty bath soaps, bubble bath, bath fizzies, body lotion and am going to start working on linen and body sprays. I might have to eventually quit selling Scentsy because a lot of people want candles that go along with the product. I really just started the bath and body line about a week ago. I haven't even named it yet!

I just bought some Scentsy stuff!  It is pretty neat.

You said you can leave it on 24/7: you can without any danger?  I have heard of the plug-in (direct) ones (not Scentsy brand though, to make that clear) starting fires: any coment on that from corporate about how safe the Scentsy ones are compared to the other brands that can cause fires?

Thanks for your input/reply!!

I do herbalife as my main work at home. I have made at most $2000 in a month but I am still new to it. You can make a ton of money from it which is great. What I love the most about it is the products are great. I've lost a ton of weight with them and medically, I am a lot healthier in all of my tests and everything since its nothing but nutrition. I like helping people get healthier or lose weight.

Other things I do are paid to click site or paid to read emails that are free to start. I like doing those because its interesting to see all of the different websites.

Oh and so far I've made over $100  on just a few orders and I've looked around at some others and I'm cheaper than most out there that do what I do.  I've always loved photography and art but then when I met dh he got me hooked on comptuers and I started making graphics and LOVED it.  I was only doing them for myself and my cousin when everyone started commenting on how good they were and that I could make some good $$ if I put it out there SO Jan we said OK we are gonna really do this.  Dh is the busness side and I'm the creative side....So far I have orders for the future(a birthday in July and another in Oct and Dec) and I just finished a birthday invite.  You can buy the graphic image and have prints made yourself OR you can buy the graphic image plus prints(which we send out to have the prints made)
