Renters Insurance

Hi ladies,

I've been looking for renters insurance in my area and Geico has started covering through Assurant. I got a quote of 283 a year for 25,000 in personal property coverage, 50,000 for personal liability, and a 250 dollar deductible. Of course I have to call to get specifics but I was just wondering if this seems reasonable? I honestly thought it was going to cost a lot more but I am totally clueless about insurance! Does anyone have renters insurance through Geico/Assurant? Is it good?

Thanks in advance!

Ours is $25 per month we have 50k in personal property coverage, 50k in personal liability and a 500 deductible.  I'm afraid we might have to up the coverage to 75k, though, just to make sure we're covered. (we have the 500 in savings so we pay less through the year and if we have a claim, we just use the money in savings).  We do the same with our auto insurance, it's at $1,000 deductible.

We have Gieco for our auto insurance as well.  They give us a a multiple policy discount.

Who do you have for auto insurance?  We used to pay $12/month for renter's insurance through state farm and we also got a discount on our auto insurance for having multiple policies so in the end I think it was like $6/month for our renters.  Don't remember the coverage because it was a long time ago!

When I had renters insurance and that was 5 yrs ago it was 98 bucks a year so with inflation that sounds about right.

I agree... it is best to bundle with the company you have auto insurance with. You get a better discount on both your renters and sometimes your auto.

I don't. I have USAA and I have no clue what I pay. I just know that two cars full coverage and 30,000/300,000 costs 140 a month.

We have State Farm. Unfortunately, they aren't doing renters insurance in FL anymore or else I'd go with them since we've never had a problem with our auto insurance.

We use Armed Forces for renters insurance. We pay 75.00 a month or 300 up front that cover 12 months and for 100,000 coverage. That is the highest they will cover! My stuff is worth it!

Thank you! I may have to look into the multiple policy discount, especially since our auto insurance (State Farm) doesn't do renters insurance in FL. Switching may be ideal.

I was wrong, we have 50k in personal property coverage and 100k in personal liability.  :)
