*NEW SYMPTOM* OMG.. DD has taken 6 times the amount of an adult dose of laxative...and still hasn't pooped!! *UPDATE #4*

I'm so worried right now. My 3 year old DD went to a GI doctor on Tuesday for severe constipation. She literally hasn't had a decent sized poop in over a month..probably 5 or 6 weeks. So he wanted us to do a "clean out". Today I gave her 6 capfuls of miralax along with other laxative too. An adult dose of miralax is 1 capful per day. Well, it's 9:30 at night, and she still hasn't pooped!! I'm so worried!  How can that not make her poop?

UPDATE: Well, it's not 11:30 pm, and she still hasn't pooped. She ended up falling asleep on my DH's recliner in the living room. I really hope she goes soon!! I'm so worried for her. 5-6 weeks with no pooping is a long time!!

I'm so stressed out to the max right now. This is only one issue we have going on.. We've also had tons of other doctor's appointments this month alone (I've had bronchitis and a severe flair up of my asthma, my DS just had surgery last Thursday, my 7 year old DD is having dental issues and is getting braces, my youngest DD also has severe food allergies, and she has had 2 UTI's in the past few weeks, my DS had croup not too long ago...all of this along with some viruses/colds that we had.) This has been a horrible month!! I'm always busy with doctors, but this month has been waaayyy worse than normal. I just want things to get better for all of us...IDK how much more stress I can handle! I just want to sit and cry tonight. =*(

UPDATE #2: OMG!! I'm so freaking out now. As I was holding DD last night (after she did poop a little finally..yay!!!).. I noticed her thumb didn't look "right". So I tried to get it to straighten...and it wouldn't straighten. It's bent forward at the knuckle..and it will NOT straighten!!! I have no idea what's going on with it!! I don't remember her ever hurting it..and you would think if she broke it or something that she would have cried...???  I'm taking my older two to school right now, and then I will call the doctor's office as soon as they open!! I really hope it's nothing bad..but IDK what "nothing bad" could actually be in this situation!!!  This did make me finally break down into tears last night... I don't know how much more I can handle right now... =*(

Please if you are the praying kind...please, please, please say a prayer for my DD Raelyn today!!

UDATE#3: She has finally started pooping. She has had 2 decent sized BM's, and is now having some diarrhea... The diarrhea is expected, and intentional. The GI wanted to get her totally cleaned out so we can start fresh. I think the laxatives are finally working!!! Thank goodness. I was getting soooo worried!!!

UPDATE#4: So we are back from the doctor's office. She has trigger finger in her right thumb. She will have to go to an orthopedic specialist and probably end up having to have surgery to correct the problem. =(  I feel so bad for her. She has had such a rough life so far..I just want things to get easier for her!!

But, on a better note, she is still pooping!! Yay! I never thought I would be so happy to see so much poop in my life. LOL. But she is getting a bad rash from it all. One mom already suggested using washcloths instead of wipes to wipe her, and I'm going to do that. But other than that, what can I do for the rash? Any tricks I don't know about? I've been putting desitin or vaseline on her after I change her pull up (she has to wear pull ups right now because her poop is just literally coming out on it's own). But other than that IDK if there is anything I can do or use that would help... Any suggestions?  Oh, and we can't use A&D ointment or any other ointment that has cod liver oil in it.. She is severely allergic to fish, and that stuff makes her bleed instantly. =(

What did the doctor say? Did he advise you to give that much medication? Sometimes giving too much can cause more problems...like horrible cramping and stuff.

Did the GI do anything to check for blockage?  Can you give her a suppository?  My ds would go for a week without pooping when he was a baby.  It was not fun for any of us.

that sounds like a lot! the doc said to give her that much?  I think different laxatives work differently in different people.  Maybe try metamucil or prune juice next time.

I don't know that would really worry me hon.  Erin uses Miralax per her GI also and she only takes 1/2 cupful( shes almost a year) and it gives her a good 3-4 poops.  i do understand the cleanout process as its common for refluxers but i have never heard that.  I would call and see about x-ray for obstruction.  JMO.  Hope everything is OK

That doesnt sound too good.   She may have a twist in her system or a blockage.

Yes, it was doctor's orders to do that much. He said miralax doesn't usually cause cramping. I'm sure she will be having some due to the simple fact of how much stool she actually has in her though. =(  I'm literally about in tears right now! I know she can't feel good!! And I'm so afraid that she may have an impacted colon instead of just being constipated..

I'm trying so hard not to cry in front of DD though..

Miralax works differently than other laxatives as its not absorbed by the body thats why it is common in children.   It is also common to give larger doses of it for clean out purposes from GI's.  Don't freak about that I know alot of kiddos who do clean-outs and also just have to take some everyday for maintenance. If miralax wont work prune juice sure wont
