So we have had all these posts about weight, which is great. I have been doing some replying and reading which is good for me because I never talk about my weight, and I am very self-conscience and I felt great getting to talk about/read about this with other people going through the same thing. And then I get a call from my grandfather. I got told that I needed to start dieting better to lose weight quickly. "Its not attractive to be as fat as an elephant..." That I would never be able to make new friends, or get a job (although I am a SAHM and really don't want to work if I don't have to.) Geeze he did so good ruining my whole good attitude in a matter of minutes. I walk at least a mile a day, I chase kids around, I eat well and watch my caloric intake like a hawk, and still can't lose anything. I guess I just would like to know if anyone else has this problem with a family member making the whole thing worse?

My mom.

Tell your grandfather that losing weight 'quickly' is not a good thing. And then tell him to go eat a cookie because you can't....

I just want to say that I'm sorry that your grandfather made such an insensitive comment to you about your weight. Those things he said to you just aren't truthful. I have seen plenty of beautiful women that happen to be overweight, you can make friends... its all in the attitude and why wouldn't you be able to get a job (if you wanted one)? My mom had a weight problem and she was very beautiful to me (may she RIP). My youngest DD (14) has a weight problem as well and I think she is beautiful as well, its all in your attitude towards the world, how people will act towards you, if you act positive then people will pick up on your vibe and be positive towards you.
