Any body have a good sloppy joe recipe you'd like to share? I'd greatly appreciate it. TIA
This is how I make mine.. It is not special but we like it.. I use cream of mushroom soup, tomatoe soup, garlic powder and onion..
I brown my meat. as my meat is cooking I add my chopped onion. Drian it off. Add the soups how much u add all depends on how much meat u have. As the meat is heatting back up I add the garlic powder. Add as much as u like.. I add alot to mine because we like it that way.
i generally use this recipe, or i just use bbq sauce or already canned sloppy joe mix instead of the ketchup mustard combo to make it easier
Yup, I made some yummy sloppy joes from scratch the other day! Just adjust the recipe for your family. We're a family of 6 and I made it for 8 and had NO leftovers.
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 hamburger buns, split
In a saucepan, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes. Serve on buns
Ingredients
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 1/4 lbs ground sirloin ( I use turkey)
2-3 teaspoons steak seasoning, such as mccormick brand montreal seasoning
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small red bell pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce (I substitute with A1 steak sauce tastes a bit beefy that way)
2 cups tomato sauce (I use fresh tomatoes and blend them)
2 tablespoons tomato paste (the organic store brand we buy is the best)
whole wheat buns
Directions
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil and meat to the pan. Spread the meat around the pan and begin to break it up. Combine brown sugar and steak seasoning. Add sugar and spice mixture to the skillet and combine. When the meat has browned, add onion and red peppers to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, peppers, red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce with meat for 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and paste to pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook Sloppy Joe mixture 5 minutes longer.
When we have large gatherings I just double or triple the recipe. I also write out the recipe for them. Really good and easy to make and thendump in the crockpot to keep warm. The longer it simmers the better it seems to get.
