OMG my sugar reading was 198. I want to cry. Is my little girl okay?

My baby shower is this weekend and my favorite Aunt is in town. She wanted to take me and DH out to eat. I have gestational diabetes. I suggested we go to PF Changs because I already know what I can eat there. I have eaten there twice since I was diagnosed with no high readings, so I wasn't worried. When I came home, I tested 2 hours after I ate like I was supposed to. The reading was 198. I have not had a reading like that since I first was diagnosed. It took almost 9 hours for it to dip back below 100, even with drinking water constantly. I am so worried that my little girl is feeling the effects from that. I had it controlled with diet alone no problem until I got sick last week and it is been wacky ever since I got better. I hate that I have it to begin with because it could hurt her and I am TERRIFIED that it won't go away after pregnancy, but this sugar reading really scared me.

You're going to be fine and so is your baby. You probably just had too many carbs. As long as your sugar went down, you're ok. Your gestational diabetes will probably go a way after the baby is born, so don't worry so much mama.

It's ok Mama, don't be scared. First off, not a surprise that your blood sugar went haywire after an illness. That's normal. Yes, your reading is high and I would definitely talk to your doctor about it as soon as you can to make sure this was just a spike and not a constant problem. However, I'm sure you're little one will be just fine because it sounds like you have been doing a great job controlling your sugar levels. Hang in there hon, it will be ok.

i looked it up, you are barely out of the normal range, ask MD said not to worry unless it stays that high for a long time (days) or goes way high. Stressing over it isnt good though, relax lil momma and take it again in a few hours.

I had gestational diabetes and even had tu use insuline two times a day. The same day that I gave birth to my son I stop using insuline because my sugar went down. Hopefully yours will be like that. Why you aren't is some kind of medication?

You are charting right?Just call your doc in the am and discuss so you can relax. It went down ,your baby is ok.As was said with your illness it is expected to be wacky. If there is a next time eat plenty of lean protein with your carbs it helps slow the conversion which slows the blood sugar down.Good luck you both are ok.
