We just completely gutted our front yard. We are having grass put in soon I hope lol, and theres a row of bushes that DH and FIL pulled up (there was 4) because they were lopsided and just looked weird. The people before us didnt really take care of the dirt were the flowers would be so it is FULL of weeds. If I use like Round Up or Grass Away is it going to make it so the flowers I plant will die? We are going to put top soil down before the grass and flowers go in so would that make a difference?
Also when is the best time to buy roses? Im replacing the bushes with like 12 rose bushes and I dont really know much about flowers lol. Also what are some unique or beautiful flowers? They are going under our bay window so its a little shaded so it cant really be flowers that have to be out in the sun all day. Ive been looking on Lowes.com and I really dont know what I should be looking for.

It really depends on where you live as far as what to buy/plant. Can I make a suggestion since you are not familiar with flowers? Don't buy hybrid roses, they tend to be more difficult to care for. I use to buy my mom roses from Jackson Perkins.
As far a shade or semi-sun plants...I would look at places like Spring Hill, Gurney's, Burpee's or Breck's. They all have nice selections and have zone charts. You can either buy from them or get your ideas from them and purchase locally.
As far as the Round up, I am not sure put personally I wouldn't use it ESPECIALLY since you are looking at planting new grass seed in the yard. Instead I would clean the bed out real well by hand. After you are done and you have your plants in you can always mulch your garden which will help keep the weeds away.
Whatever nursary you go to will be able to answer all your flower questions. when to plant them, what you need to do to make them grow, things not to do,etc. I unfotunately dont know much either but i wish you luck on your yard remodeling.
