Strep Throat...need suggestions from moms who have been there!

My daughter has been sick for a week. We just took her to the doctor this morning and she does in fact have strep. My kids have had it before, but this bout really has her down and out. I feel so bad for her. She is really, really pale and can't eat a thing.

Any been there-done that remedies or suggestions to help her feel a little better til the antibiotic starts working?

i have no clue...but i did have strep before, i would really try to get her to eat something...my throat was hurting really bad that day, so i went to the hospital..while i was trying to get my prescription filled, i started to feel tingly all over...i sat down and the next thing i know, my body started to lock up on me, it looked like i had really bad arthritis, my fingers looked deformed and my knees were stuck together...i had to be wheeled out of the pharmacy back to the hospital...my friend gave me some macaroni and it helped...i guess i had low sugar or something...but yea, i said all this to say, to try to get something in her

My daughter just got over strep. Try hot stuff. Usually works best. Soup, hot tea with honey. If she prefers cold stuff do frozen juice, or an icee. It's important that she not get dehydrated. My daughter drank gatorade to help with that. Hope she feels better soon!

About 5 minutes before she is going to eat spray her throat with OTC chloraseptic spray.  It works very well.

I just recently got over strep throat. I have had it before, but it has never been as bad as this last time.

The only thing I could swallow was smoothies.

If you can, have her gargle with warm salt water (not sure of her age). Ive had strep four times since December (getting a tonsilectomy soon). Give her soft foods, things that will slide down easily, stay away from acid-rich foods and drinks like soda that burned my throat really bad.
