Have you ever used fenugreek for a low milk supply? if yes, i have a few questions..

how long until you saw results?

any side effects (besides smelling like maple syrup)?

how long did you take the fenugreek and did you discontinue taking them after your milk supply came back?

i'm just curious because I have a low milk supply right now and my daughter is 11 months so not old enough (according to the pedi) for milk and I really don't want to have to give her formula.

Any advice would be appreciated.!

I didnt have low milk supply but my home health nurse with my last one told me to use it anyway, to make sure my milk supply stayed to where it needed to be... It took about 2 days to fully "kick in" and then I ended up having to pump because I was producing more than he could eat!

Aiden started refusing the bottle at 9 months and wouldn't take his formula in a cup...the pedi told me to start him on a bit of milk and he did great....

as for the fenugreek..yes I took it. It helped big time!!!

thank you for your reply.. it sounds like it works well and quickly and that is the main reason i'm looking into it. I'm not really looking forward to having to pump all of the time or be engorged but I need to do something to increase my supply and I have tried everything besides this.. I really hope it works for me! thanks again for your reply!

my daughter refuses to take a bottle for me.. I think its because she smells the milk on me or she just knows that I have milk in me so I was worried about trying to switch her to cows milk or formula because of it.. and she doesn't use sippy cups yet even though i've tried to get her to use them for a little juice and water.. she would just rather have mommys milk but i'm producing less and less.. i'm glad it works well, it would help me out a lot.

I have a babysitter (DH's gma) on tuesdays and wednesdays and she needs milk but I can barely get anything when I pump lately so i've been having to come over and nurse her everytime shes hungry and won't eat her babyfood. So hopefully after taking the fenugreek I won't have any problems pumping

i've been researching fenugreek and it said something about it can cause you to become sick but I didn't think too much about it. I have a pretty sensitive stomach as well and I hope that it doesn't affect me too much.
