For a week now my kidney has been hurting, it is worse today, to the point to where I do not want to do anything. Hubby has let me relax so I could take some pain meds (which I only take when absolutely need them) My side is still hurting. I told my husband I would go to the ER, but they will not do anything, since that is what they always do. they just give me more pain meds, which I do not like to take. They always say get over it, (basically) that it is a chronic illness/pain and I just have to get used to it. I have poly cystic kidney disease, along with kidney stones (they found the stones March of 2008) they still have not passed. I am just getting annoyed at this pain! My doc in the city (specialist in PKD) Is testing to see what kind of stones they are since they may have to remove them surgically? IDK. I just want this pain gone! I have drank tons of water, i rarely eat salt. I have done everything I can to help prevent this. But there is no cure for this diesease unfortunately.
I see the best doc in the city. I could call him, but I really do not want to bother him, when he has patients who need him more than I do. I saw a urologist out of desperation 6 months ago, and all he said was call me if it gets worse, there is nothing we can do. I left crying.
Quoting SugarGuru:have you tried getting a second opinion and getting the stones blasted???
I'm so sorry...dont' know what to tell you except that I hope they can figure out something that will help you soon. Its no fun to be in pain all the time.
yea you need to get a second opinion. If the stones won't pass, they need to give you a stint, and ultra sound blast them if mecessarry. That is the surgery i had to have on them. It is non invasive surgery.
That just doens't sound right how they are treating this issue. Is there another hospital you can go to? I'm sorry, i have been through the kidney stone part, and a complication from the surgery which was even worse to endure than the stones, and i can totally empathize. I am so sorry :(
i'd say it's gotten worse and it warrants a phone call...you can't be any good to yourself or your family in pain or doped up on pills....take the necessary actions and bug the shit out of them...they'll take care of you when they're tired of your calls and appearances in the offices...

If you are in that much pain, why not call your doctor? Thats what he is there for and you aren't bothering him if he can help you, thats his job.

Thank you. I am not sure why they are not doing anything yet. I am doing a 48 hour urine collection to figure out what kind of stones they are. We will see I guess, maybe I should call my doc on Monday? IDK, all I know is I can not take the pain much longer, I am about to have a break down from it. Am I a baby to some yes, but for those that have had stones will understand
