We are bad parents

So Dh and I get home from going out to dinner with DS last night and we get him out of the car and let him walk up to the apartment. Across the parking lot holding my hand on the sidewalk up a flight of stairs and into the apartment.

Then we needed to take the dog out so we all went for a walk. Down past 2 buildings and back. Back up the stairs and into the apartment. I told DS to sit down and take his shoes off. he takes off ONE shoe. Just one. I was like ummm did you lose your shoe on the walk? Nope he took it off in the car on the way home. So we did all that and he only had one shoe on the whole time.

In my defense hubby got him out of the car. DS never complained he didn't walk funny that I noticed. I felt so bad. I was actually in tears but that was probably hormones since I'm pregnant. But I sat there and cried cuz I made my kid walk with only one shoe on.

Am I the only one that has done something like this?

********************* I'm pregnant so my hormones are out of control. I felt more stupid than upset about the fact that he didn't have a shoe on.  it happens.

Don't be so hard on yourself.  It happens.

I believe I spent most of my childhood running around outside without any kind of shoes on. Just because I hated them. So dont' feel bad, Mama! Most kids hate shoes... and clothes for that matter!

My son got one shoe off in the middle of the Wal Mart grocery department.  I didn't notice until I went to put him in the truck.  Ran back inside, retraced my route, no shoe.  Went to customer service - a guy in line was their to turn in my son's shoe.  They were OshKosh shoes too and practically brand new.  Thank goodness for someone spotting it!

LOL This reminds me of a momma I saw at Walmart the other day. She had her son in the seat of the cart with one shoe on ranting about I can't believe we lost your shoe! It has to be somewhere! I noticed she was getting mad cause she couldn't find it. So when I saw this I had to go and stop her and tell her that her little boys shoe was on the bottom rack of the cart!. She had been searching the store for his shoe and it was with them the whole time!

pfft thats nothing.

I once drove almost 2 hours before I realized I put my baby IN the car seat but didn't actually do ANY of the clips up.  Oh my god, you wanna see a mommy cry?  I thought I was going to die.

Oh yes. My daughters are 4 and 1....we were going for a walk earlier this week, and I was pushing the stroller with my 1 yr. old in it....and my 4 yr. old wanted to ride her scooter, and she had flip-flops on. On the way back to our house I looked down cause she was riding next to me...and she only had 1 flip-flop on!! We went back and got it, but I did feel bad. Stuff happens....you can't feel bad. It was an accident.
