Depo Shot

I started the Depo Shot about a month ago, and I am a few days late for my period.  I waited a week for DH to finish in me, but only three days to have unprotected sex.  I am not an idiot, I know sex makes babies, and regardless of birth control or not, there is a possibility that I could be pregnant.  Before I go jumping the gun so to speak, I want to know if any of you have had a late or missed period within a month of starting depo?

I also know that the time it takes for Depo to get in your system is 24 hours, so I waited over the time needed...

you don't typically get your period on depo....

and just fyi, get off of it after a year, it causes severe osteoperosis in women who remain on it longer than a year

Ah man, fell asleep on the couch while watching Nature on LPB, wish I hadnt' missed the show. Will have to look for it online when I'm not so groggy. Those snub nose monkeys of the Himalayas are freakin cute. I did get to see those before I conked out. lol

I know it is supposed to stop my period, but I was told that it wouldnt stop it until after I got the SECOND shot (after 3 months)

please, please, get off of depo.....it is not supposed to be continually administered to you after a year of use...it causes severe bone deterioration....that's already a high risk for women, imagine adding to it..it's proven in ALL cases to happen....

i've been on it twice, and each time it stopped it immediately. i just started it for the second time in dec, and i had started my period that day, that night my period stopped. so its diff for everyone. sometimes it takes til the second shot sometimes its sooner. just be sure you get in at the beginning of the window for the next shot (you have a 2 wk period to get it done, go at the beginning) as i ended up getting my period a few days ago b/c it was at the end of the 2 wk period and i hadn't realized it.

My 17 year old got her first shot on Jan 13. She is on it to control her monthly cycle. She would have AF almost nonstop until she got on the depo. She hasn't had any issue and has stopped having her AF.

We were told my dd could gain weight while on this shot, so far, not true, she is losing weight and I am worried cause she is tiny, at 98 lbs now. She hasn't been eating well either.
