What do you do to keep your kids cool in the summer? Last summer, Addisyn would be so sweaty every time I took her out of the car. I have an Envoy and we live in Phoenix where it gets to be well over 100 degrees daily. When she is rearfacing, she gets no cool air blowing towards her. It is only 70's and 80's and she is already drenched when I take her out of her carseat. I made sure to buy a light colored carseat for this very reason.
How old is she? Could she handle one of those little spray bottles with a fan on it? And do you have those window shades to block the sun (or tinted windows)?
I keep the air on full blast and have dark tinted windows. We live in FLorida. He sweats sometimes but he will be turning around probably this year anyway since he is 32 lbs.
we have tinted windows, we were told the window shades were a bad idea too. The spray bottle would be a good idea in theory, but she is 17 months old and has no clue how to work a spay bottle. She also has a trach so a water bottle in the back seat with her isn't such a good idea. Right now she is drenched when I take her out of her carseat. She is 27 lbs, so she is not a tiny kid, but has a lot of room left in her carseat.
I live in the Phoenix area too :) we have a little fan that plugs into the lighter plug thing. Yeah it'll probably fly into my head in a wreck but it keeps him cool.
We bought a small fan with a clip on it (from walmart) and put it on the clothes thing on the door farthest from her. It does work.
Didn't know that! Good thing they never stuck to my windows so I threw them away! LOL
Quoting omgamomie:I thought window shades were a bad idea since it can be a projectile in an accident.

If you blow your AC at the windshield, it blows into the back rather well. Try putting if you haven't already, some shades on the side windows. Also get windshield reflectors for your front and back windows when you arent in a car. Or get your windows tinted. I live in GA and it gets hot here and have never had an issue with DD being RF and her sweating. Unless you dont have AC in the car, then roll all the windows down.
