We can get ice cream after you paralyze us.....

Has anyone else seen this on a billboard?

I *think* it means something along the lines of driver turns around (while drunk or something) and asking passengers if they want to get ice cream. While doing that they get into a wreck?

Am I right?

lol I think its crazy that I even put so much thought into it. I think I am a very smart person but this one just makes me wonder. Why can't they just SAY what they mean?

Thoughts?

I haven't seen it. Maybe it has to do with driving your kids around after drinking a couple beers? I know there are a lot of people who don't consider it drunk driving if they've only had a couple, and don't "feel" drunk..

Here is what I am talking about except ours DOESN'T have the line under the mirror about friends driving recklessly. And why ice cream? lol Why oh why am I putting so much thought into this thing. It's been aggravating me for a while.

Why speak up? Because reckless driving is the #1 killer of 15-20 year olds. Speaking up could save your life.

Look, we get it. You don’t want to make it a big deal when your friends are driving recklessly. But, you don’t have to seem like a downer, lecture them or sound like their mom. Speak up in your own way. Just remember, it doesn’t matter what you say, if your friends are driving recklessly, say something.

The Speak Up Or Else campaign is sponsored by the Ad Council and a coalition of state Attorneys General and consumer protection agencies. For almost 65 years, the Ad Council has been improving the lives of Americans by raising awareness about critical social issues and inspiring people to take action. The organization addresses a variety of community, education, health and safety issues and it’s iconic taglines have become part of the American language, like “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk,” “Take a Bite out of Crime,” and “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.”

Ah, I see..so it's not a DD ad at all, then? I think they should be more direct, instead of distracting drivers with a billboard they don't understand..

I believe it's aimed at teens who drive too fast. Or, more specifically, at teen passengers, telling them to warn the teen driver to slow down.

Don't beat yourself up for not getting it. The ad is awful. As a former copywriter I give it a 2 out of 10.
