We went to a friend's little girl's bday party today and my son got a bucket of candy and small toys for the party gift.... included was a little plastic top. Well, once home Ash (3) found it and I showed him how to spin it... he was playing with it on the table, and I'm surfing the net and watching tv (he was right in front of me BTW).... next thing I hear was SSSSCCCCCRRRRAAATTTCCCHHHHH!!!!! I looked at him and saw what he did, he put a HUGE sctatch on the table with the top he was playing with! I took it away ASAP and yelled at him "You just wait till Tyson gets up! Why did you do that! I think you need to go to your room right now!" .... Well, Tyson, who was trying to sleep (works 3rds) apparently heard it and came out and asked Ash what he did to the table and Ash just sat on the couch and didn't move, didn't show him what he did, nothin, so Tyson looked over and saw it... and took his bucket of candy and threw it away. This, of course, pissed Ash off and he came to me telling on him, bla bla bla I just told him "well, you don't deserve it after scratching the table like that". After a minute, Tyson picked him up and sat him on his lap and tried to talk to him about what he did.... Ash said something smart (I didn't really hear exactly what it was) and back handed Tyson in the mouth!
At that point, Tyson pulled the back of his pants down, flipped him over his knee and spanked him bare bottom.... some would say "old fashioned" ? After that, we told him to go over to the couch and sit there.... he did (crying still) and didn't move or speak for the next 10 mins..... wouldn't even talk to us at all.... and Tyson had to go back to bed.
Do you think the punishment was appropiate? Have any of you spanked your kids bare bottom?

im all for spanking and i dont care what nobody say. but different moms parent there kids differently

I would have slapped his butt also. My son spit in my face the other night. he sat on his bed for 45 mins after i beat his butt.

We don't like spanking, really... but we feel forced to sometimes... but my son's mouth is dangerous and we have no clue where he is getting alot of it (we arn't perfect, lol) .... when we do spank him, he has pants or pull up or something on... this is the first time we have spanked him and he didn't argue, back talk or anything... just did what we told him too. I was a little amazed.
I have spanked my children, I don't have to use that punishment anymore. Now all I have to do is ask them if they want a spanking and they stop what they are doing and say no. Do I think the punishment fit the action, yes. If my 3 year old back handed me, he would have gotten it right back.
