My son has this big Curious George book that is full of stories. In the beginning of the book, it talks about how Curious George came about. It says that back in the day in Britain that "curious" meant "gay".
So, my 7 year old brings the book to me and tells me that his book has a bad word and he can't believe that they said that about Curious George.
So, he showed it to me. When I saw it, I just laughed and explained to him that "gay" really means "happy".
He was like, "Oh, I forgot." lol
That is the way it is here. If it isn't something nice to say or something that may offend someone in the wrong company, then it is a bad word. The "s" word in my house is "shut up". They know better than to say that.
Quoting SAHMinIL2:
according to my kids stupid is the "s" word. He's a young child and perhaps he felt it was "name calling" thus it was a "bad" word. That's why my kids think stupid is a bad word. They will say Momma he siad the "s" word, because they don't want to say it.
