I just want to say so many people are bitching that this bill ruined their life.  Think or the lives it saves.  Like my little brother who at 12 years old has kidney failure, but was denied coverage by my mothers insurance because he has a preexsisting condition, and my mom makes too much to get goverment insurance.  Now my brother can get QUALITY care, my mom wont have to live in a one bedroom apartment with her husband and my two brothers trying to stay afloat while paying for medical bills.  Honestly it may have ruined your life, but its saving me from have to say good bye to another brother.  He may still die, but at least he will have the medical care he deserves.

he won't be able to get anything for 4 more years. Just wanted to let you know that..because a lot of  people are also thinking this is going to be something that happens fast but it wont'. Noone will see any help (except for seniors) until 2014 and then that could change if things dont' go as planned.

No one knows anything until everything is implemented, or how it all will be implemented. Everyone crying it ruined their lives I mean seriously it just passed I mean that is quite amazing it is already affecting them.

Children will be able to get covered if they have preexsisting conditions in 6 months.

Best of luck! I do not know 100% how I feel about this, but I feel for your family and hope your brother can be helped regardless of what happens with the new bill. *hugs*

I just think that THIS health reform was not the best idea.  Yes, health insurance should be affordable for everyone and not be limited to those without pre-existing conditions.....  but this bill was NOT the way to do it, IMO.

i still have no idea about this health bill-- but i agree. DS has some medical conditions and its kind of making me wonder what type of coverage he'll get when he's older-- if any! (he has PKD so far, but also has a genetic dental thing, plus another issue that the doctor still hasnt called about-- he's supposed to see a specialist- the pedi was supposed to call the specialist so they could call me... 3 months later- no call)

At least he will have a fighting chance now, which is what all people should get.  No one should be denied because of them being sick.  Its not right.

I don't know what this will affect in our lives, and frankly, as long as my kids can go to college and still go to the doctors, I am not going to stress out about it all.....but in the case of the OP's brother, I am happy for him!

BTW, that "oh well" attitude regarding how it affects other people's lives....       not so nice.

My brother had small health problems when he was younger, but at the age of 9 they finally diagnosed him with what was really causing it all, since it was a condition that affected him from birth the insurance pulled their coverage.
