Young Moms?

I just saw in another post that someone said they considered a young mom to be under 17 years old.

I am 23 and I consider myself a young mom. I mean, I am young and I am a mom. In the military community though, I am one of the older ones. A lot of girls marry their spouse at around 18 or so and start having babies. I didn't do that....

So, I'm not really sure where I cut off a "young mom" but I think if you are in your 20's, you are still a young mom.

Just curious, where is your cutoff on what you consider a "young mom" to be?

I never really thought about it.  I had my first at 22.  I never really considered it old or young though, thinking back, many of my friends that were my age did not have kids.

I wonder the same thing when I open those posts.  I always thought 13-19 were teen moms, and 20-27ish was a young mom, and anything after that is just a mom!  I mean I'm 25 had dd at 23 and I'm the only one of my friends to have children, and the rest aren't even getting close to that point yet.  I feel like I did things REALLY young, (married and stepmom to a 4.5 year old at 20, now 25 and have a 1.5 yearold and a 9 year old and have been married for 5 years!)  I can't imagine doing things any younger because I was an extremely mature teenager and I was still overwhelmed at the idea of it all.

OP I understand what you mean about military life, I can't believe how OLD I feel when I go to FRG meetings and such.  I think I'm a young mom and wife until I walk in there, and the chick sitting next me has 3 kids under 3 and we get to talking and I find out she's married and has been and she's 18-19!!  I'm not judging but it ALWAYS takes me by surprise
