My daughter has a 2:30 doctor's appointment, the baby was due last Tuesday...She isn't feeling any contractions yet other than false labor...What are the chances they may decide to induce her today? She was dialated at 3cm last week...

Reason I ask is, I'm suppose to be to work at 3:00 today and I'm not the kind of person that misses work, but I don't want to miss this event since this is my first grand baby coming...

probably pretty good that the doc will decide to induce her but depending on the hospital and what they have available is when she'll get induced, I was 40 weeks with my first when my  doc decided to induce and the day before my induction I went into labor and had him on my day of induction which put me at 41 weeks and 1 day, with my 2nd i went in the day before my due date and she decided to induce me and i got into the hospital the next day and they induced and i had him at 40 weeks and 2 days. good luck I hope it happens soon for her,  i know how miserable she must be feeling.

Yeah, she's wishing that it was all over right about now and we're patiently, anxiously waiting...:)

So, do you think I should call in today and take PTO? or just call work and tell them I'll be late til further notice?

do you know if her cervix has softened? how long do you usually work for? maybe just call and say you will be late until further notice and then surely they will let you leave if she were to go into labor on her own, where do you work?

I would think they'd want to schedule an induction, but it's still up to your daughter whether to have one or not.  Unless the baby doesn't appear to be thriving, I would think they'd schedule something for later, not induce immediately.

I have no idea how soft her cervix is...I work til midnight at the Meat plant here at Rochester Meats...I know they'll let me leave, it's just that her appointment is so close to the time I got to clock in...I just wished I knew for sure if the doctor will induce her before hand...

They might just do what they did to me way back...Keep her and tell her they would induce in the morning if the baby  hasn't arrived through the night...That's what I remember going through years ago...
