I have never seen one of these up close so not sure what all they do.  My soon to be 8 year old said to me this morning, that she wants one for her birthday.  My question is this toy to young for her??  I would hate to buy something that would be put in the drawer and never played with.  Thanks for your input!

my 8 year old enjoys her zhu zhu pet but only a few minutes a day. it doeant really hold her attention for that long but she still likes it. i think the key is to buy all the accessories that go with it. its hilarious that the pet is only like $10 but all the extra peices are closer to $20!

if they're what i'm thinking of, they're basically realistic pets, except they don't stink or poop or need food.  i think they'd be a happy medium for a kid who's too young to really care for a pet by themselves but wants a pet.  and no, 8 seems like part of the age group they're targeting.

I got one for my dd and my little niece. My dd is 2, and she is to little for it, my little niece is 4 and she loves it. My son is 6 and loves them too. If she wants it go for it. But the housing for them is outrageously priced! They are fun to collect even if not played with. they are only 10 bucks. The pet is. So if it turns out that she does not like it, it was not a huge loss. Have you even seen them move or how they work yet?

Our zu zu is funny. it will hide from us....lol. My dd was playing with hers on the floor, it looked at her and went zooming under the foot stand, she and I both thought it was so funny. It is actually in hiding right now somewhere! They are cute and fun to play with but we never got any of their house yet. I am going to wait until she gets a bit older.

The only bad thing i have found with these is they can get stuck in your hair.It latched right on to mine when i was trying to figure it out...lol. But the new ones have a button you can push to release hair if it does get caught.

My 8 year old SS got one for his birthday so did my four year old SS. Both of them played with them that day and I haven't seen them since. Yesterday the four year old asked for it but he didn't know where it was. Maybe for a girl it will hold her attention more. We also get them all the fur-real pets. My four year old loves his horse and tiger but the 8 year old liked it for a couple of days and that was it.
