Although there can be many answers to this question. A recent experience is leading me to ask this . . . .What is a family to you?
Not who is in your family like you, your husband and kids, but on a deeper level. Is it someone who is always there for you? Is it a close friend you consider family? Would you consider someone who is constantly talking bad about you or down to you, although they are blood related, family?
You don't have to answer those questions, just example of what family is to you,
Family is what you make it---it could be you, and a few close friends, the guys at the bowling alley, the AA meetings you go to, the motorcycle club you affiliate with. They don't have to be blood.
Most people consider their "family" a few blood related folks, along with a mix of non blood related close friends.....the kind of friends you can trust in your home, with your kids, or your prize possessions.
If you treat me poorly, I don't care if you're blood related or not---you are NOT in my family.
Family to me is anyone who is a big part of your life. Someone you can trust and someone who is always there for you. Most of the people I consider family aren't blood related and everyone who is except for my mother I don't even speak too.
