I have a HP now. Its not too old. Last week i dropped it and now the screen is going out of it. Really shakey with lines running down through it. I have a warranty that i bought on it BUT since i dropped it and its obvious its been dropped they won't fix it becasue they claim the problem was caused by me dropping it. I don't beleive it but whatever.
Its going to cost at least 500 to fix it. And thats only at geeksquad. i haven't tried any place else yet.
DH said i could get anew one if i wanted. I will need a reliable computer come june when i start classes anyway.
So i am looking online and i don't know what i want. I have always had windows based computers but have been thinking about getting a mac next. BUT macs are so much more expensive than a HP. I can get a HP with a lot more in it for 779 at best buy and i could get a MAC for 999 with a lot less.
So which do you perfer? We have the cash. Its not going to be a credit purchase but i don't know what i want. i also don't know if i should just shop around for someone to fix the laptop i already have.
decisions decisions decisions..

I just recently got a Mac. I will never own a PC again.
i have a iphone. But thats the only apple product i have.
How much of a difference is it compared to windows based programs? I have never owned or operated a mac. Is it easy? Worth the extra cost?

It's actually very easy. Everything I use regularly is in the doc on the bottom. Then there's a bar across the top that is equal to what would be on the window. So if you have Internet Explorer/Firefox up, the bar that says File, Edit, View, History, etc is at the top all the time and depending on what you're doing it changes to fit that program.
You can get MobileMe and it will sync your contacts and calander with your iPhone. So if you make an entry in one, it'll update the other. You also don't have to worry about viruses or your computer crashing. The customer service is based in America, so it's always someone easier to understand.
I love it. It was really easy to get used to. I was reluctant at first too, we went to go buy another PC. The guys at Best Buy told me how easy it was so I made the switch and I'm very glad I did.

Also, because you don't have to worry about viruses, you don't have to pay for virus protection programs. Also, if you buy it at Best Buy, the Macs come with a warranty and if something happens to yours (like dropping it), Best Buy isn't allowed to fix it so they give you a brand new one on the spot.

Thats prety awesome!
Yeah i don't knwo what happened really. i was lugging it in the kitchen with me to make dinner (i was making a receipe) and i tripped and for some reason i lost control of the laptop and down it went. It worked fine for a week afterward and now all of a sudden the screen is messing up.
