Guess What My Mom Decided To Tell Me?

In Nov' of 06, my Gramama died of breast cancer. I was 16. I remember seeing my Gramama laying in her room, dying, & I guess maybe it didn't set in that she was going to go & I couldn't stop it. At 3:59am, there were 4 sleeping teenagers & 4 sleeping adults & 1 adult awake, and then, as if she wanted us to know, at 4am, 8 people jerked out of a sound sleep & ran to her room...She was gone.

I say this because I had to write to realize it was all true. Also, to make myself realize how little time I had w/ my Gramama. I don't think I really caught on to Breast Cancer and how scary it can be until 2 nights ago.

Im going to see my OBGYN to make sure this is nothing serious or if it could be, but I found a small lump in my breast. My left breast(were I found it) is consititly sore. My mom said it could be a swollon lympnoid (I think thats how its spelled) or milk gland, we dont know, Im trying to not get scared. But, as my title says, guess what my mom decided to tell me?

Cancer of the uterus, overies and breast runs hardcore in my moms family. I asked her if I would be a high risk toward any of those cancers and she said yes. I asked her why she enver told me and she said she didn't want me to get scared. I appriciate her looking out for me and im glad she finally told me. Now that I know I could be considered a high risk, im going to start changing how I deal w/ my everyday life.

Im going to start eatting right, im going to quick smoking, im going to work out, and im going to make sure I do a SBE every month. I won't get stressed and I'll do my best to keep myself healthy.

Are we related??? I had a similar conversation last week!

You are the first step towards the fight if there ever is one. You have knowledge and knowledge is power!

Good luck momma!!!!!!!!

My dr found a lump in my breat last week.

We are hoping its my diet and the sodas I drink. I don't smoke, so it isn't that.

We are monitoring it and *maybe* it will go down after time!

Im sorry mama. Hope every thing turns out good for you. Cancer doesn't really run in my family but my dad died when I was 16 and my mom when I was 18 it was a cancer caused by mold that was in our house when I was growing up so I have to go in every 2 years to get a chest x-ray. Hopefully nothing comes up Im due for one in July.
