Let's see if you ladies can help me trouble shoot my eyeball issue.

First off, I know it's not pinkeye. But, my left eyeball last night was sore and very watery, so I took out my contacts thinking that could be the problem..Still sore and watery, so I took a zyrtec thinking it was allergies..helped for a little while then started again. By the time I went to bed last night my poor eye was swollen and still watery. This morning, it's still swollen but not watery or sore...But I still took a couple of benedryl..

Any ideas?

Did you pop a blood vessel? I popped one once any my eye was really sore. I don't remember if it was watery...

Not a doc but did you get anything in it? If so you might need to flush it out. It could be a number of things..if the allergy meds are helping maybe its seasonal conjuncivitis? I've had that many times and it usually comes in one eye first.

If the zyrtec helped then I would guess it's allergies. You can have allergic conjunctivitis, which is a little different from pink eye.

I would take the zyrtec regularly for a few days and see if it helps.

Hmmm. Call your nurse hotline or something. Sometimes my eye gets like that before I get a sty.

could it be a sty ( sp) in your eye ? when your tear duct gets irritated and your eye swells.

It seems like it's my eyelid is what is swollen, I'm thinking that that the only reason it is is because of wiping it so much last night to get the tears off my face. I figured I would try the benedryl for today and see if that helps before I do a doctor or anything.

I would contact my DR on this. You can never be too careful with your eyes.

I agree. You've only got one set of eyes. If the benedryl doesn't help, MO I would go to the eye doc. I've been wearing contacts for 20+ years - never had a problem wearing contacts, but I have had a number of different issues arrise. There's no reason to take a chance here.
