Infant seat base question.

Before I get started, this is not meant to be a drama post or a bash-fest. This is a serious question that concerns my 2 month old son's safety. Please, please keep the drama out of here. We are all adults here. Thank you very much!

Here's my question. My mom is allowing me to use my uncle's truck. He passed away in Febuary and left the truck to her. It's a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport-Trac. I put my son's seat in the middle of the back seat. When I use the seat belt (lap/shoulder combo), it pulls one side of the base up slightly. That can't be safe. The owner's manual recommends that you don't use the LATCH system in the middle seating postion. So do I leave him in that seating position or move him over by the door so that I can use the LATCH system? Help me please, because I am unsure of what to do! Thanks!

my base did the same thing in my car when we put it in the middle. You take the lil key that comes w it an use it to "clamp" the seatbelts together while you sit in the base to get it nice and tight.

it didn't tilt after i did that

You should move the seat wherever you get the best install. *I* would move it to one of the side seating positions, and you can then install with either the belt or latch, depending on what gives you the best install. HTH :)
