 was a white man??

While I'm an atheist, I still believe that Jesus was a real man. I grew up in a catholic church where every image of him was a caucasion guy. Brown hair, blue eyes, pale white skin.... I'm curious after seeing the recent computer image floating around...

If you do believe he was caucasion, can I ask why?

Other.  It doesn't matter what he looked like.

Nope, he was most likely the complexion of DH since DH was born 40 miles from where Jesus (PBUH) was born.

I do not.  Considering where he was suppose to be born, it would be very unlikely they would be a white guy.  They have stated that the rendition we use today was depicted by a European artist for the king and that is what stuck.  Kind of like seeing grown men as shepards in the christmas story when in fact they would have been children instead, since in that part of the world it is usually young boys who tend the flocks.

No way, he was more than likely olive skinned.

no.... i think you would be hard pressed to find a white man in the middle east during that time period.

i imagine him as middle eastern.. perhaps even "black"  because the people of that region vary in color from "dark" to "black"

I believe he would have looked just like the middle eastern people look today... not much difference if any.
My mom thought differently, we had a discussion about that the other day.

Images of Jesus, God, Santa, and all other religious images are ALWAYS culture appropriate.  As in, in India, God looks like them, as does Jesus.  In other countries, their images of their God and all that look like them.

It's just how it is.  Although, if you are gonna be honest, Jesus was probably brown, as he was most likely of middle eastern/gallalean(sp?) decent, and they are all dark.  And I'm sure he didn't have sun block.

 I could re-word the question.

When you think of jesus, what is the image that pops into your head? Is it that if the jesus that is in the majority of pictures?

Or do you not think of a man?

I think he looked middle eastern because of the location where he lived, but I don't speculate about it....

No. He is from the Middle East where almost everyone is of olive complexion.
