I semi-homemake mine most of the time. I take equal parts Tomato Paste, Tomato sauce, and V8 juice, then a ton of italian spices (basil, thyme, oregano), some season all, garlic powder, and Cayenne Pepper. Then I add in chopped green peppers and onions, then heat until hot.

I can give you my grandmother's recipe... it's amazing!  It'll just take me a minute to type it up

I crush my own tomatoes. lol.

I add basil, garlic, oregano, onion, sugar and olive oil. Simmer in the crock pot on low all day long. Oh and Italian Seasoning.

You can also use hunt's tomato sauce with tomato paste and diced tomatoes.

I use tomato paste, canned whole plum tomatoes, wine, basil, Italian spices, garlic, onion, olive oil, oregano, basil,  sausage and ground beef  or meatballs.

I cook the meat in the garlic, onion and olive oil.

While that's cooking, I grind the whole tomatoes in a food mill over the pot they will be cooking in. Then to that I add the tomato paste, oregano, basil and other Italian spices and the Chianti (or whatever red wine you like). Put that on the stove on simmer. When the meat is done, I add the meat and the cooking juices to the sauce and let it 'cook" for a few hours.

  •  1 lb Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage (found with the bacon)

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped or minced
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 2 large (24 ounce I believe) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 jar 4 cheese spaghetti sauce
  • Canister Parmesean cheese
  • 1 small can sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Montreal Steak Seasoning (by McCormak)
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  •  In large s pot cook hamburger, sausage, onion, garlic, and some salt & pepper.
  • Drain
  •  Add sauces, mushrooms, ½ canister of parm. Cheese, stir well
  •  Add seasonings (really, just dump some in there, if you don’t add enough, you can always add more later)
  •  Cook on med – med low until it starts to bubble.
  • Turn down to simmer, for as long as you like (if you let it go all day it’s UNREAL)
  • Stir often to prevent bottom from burning, taste often to see if you want to add some more spice
  • Eat and enjoy!

We cann spegetti sauce with tomatoes from our garden. We buy a seasoning packet, can't remember the name of it though, and use that. This stuff is delicious. Ill ask my dad what its called. It makes a big batch though. I sit by the stove while the sauce is cooking breaking chunks of french bread off and dipping it in there to snack on.
