Today was a beautiful day here, so DH and I decided to take our girls to the zoo. We were there about 4 hours, and left around 3 pm. SO we are in the elevator at the parking structure with this couple, and they had a baby...I would say about 18 months. The man reeked of alcohol. It was gross. I didn't really think anything of it, whatever. Well it turns out they were parked by us. We were loading our stuff in the trunk and the man chugs a beer. I was in shock...its 3 pm AND we are at a zoo. Then, he opened another one and chugged that. This was beer that they apparantly they had in their trunk. I was totally going to mind my own business, then the man got in the driver's seat!!!! They took off, but not before I wrote down their plate number. I wish I could have said something, I would have offered a ride or something....anything so they didn't drink and drive with that baby in the car. My DH called the police and gave them the plate number...I really hope that family made it home safely if the police didn't stop them first.
DO you think you would have done the same thing?

I would have stood behind his car and told him if he wanted to leave then his wife either needed to drive or I would call them a cab or something of the like or he would have to run me over. If he got in the car I would have called the cops right then. I'm very against drinking and driving, I was in the car with a drunk driving. It's fucking terrifying and while the baby didn't know it could get really hurt. So I am a up in their face person when it comes to something like that.
Yes! I absolutely would have done the same thing. Its probably actually better you didnt say anything to them directly, you never know what kind of temperment someone like that has..but kudos for calling the cops! I hope that poor baby is safe!
wow...i swear some parents need a licence to reproduce! sooo would have called the cops too! kudos momma! for doing the right thing.
By the time I had got my stoller in the car and looked up, he was getting in the drivers seat. I wish I could have said something...more than likely the police didn't find them :(

My step dad drove around drinking with us all the time. He would drink beers while driving down the road, the stupid part is he's a truck driver ... get caught and he'd lose his job. He still does it, to this day ... never been pulled over.
Yes, I think you did the right thing.
I probably would have tried to stop him from leaving first, but you did the right thing. I would have def. at least got the plates and called the police. I watched 2 cars do a drug deal in the parking lot of my townhouse complex. But not before they got this little (maybe 2 year old) out of the car and let her stretch her legs. I was like Omg that poor child. God only knows what they were dealing. I wasnt about to mess with some drug dealers personally. I knwo for a fact they were smoking pot, we could smell that from my neighbors front yard, but Idk what they were selling. They realized we were looking at them and sped off. So we wrote their tags down as they were leaving.

I would have done the same thing. If u had tried to physically stop him who knows if it would have turned violent or not. I hope the cops got him.

I'm sorry, really not trying to start anything, but have you ever called him in? Has anyone ever tried to stop him or get him caught? I have an unnatural fear of semi's, knowing there is some guy out there drinking and driving one of those things just made it 100xs worse!
