That can't be normal can it?  I know it might be if the kid was premature or had health issues but in a perfectly healthy child  that seems underweight. My son is about to be 1 and at his last doctor's appointment last month he was 24lbs. I was told that was on the heavier side of normal. Just asking because my friend's son is 2 and a half and only weighs 26lbs and 35 inches, wheras at 11 months mine was 24lbs and 29 inches.

my 4 yr old is 30 pounds and normal ( he was a preemie but that has nothing to do with his size )

My 3 year old only weighs 30 lbs. and she is small compared to her sister at that age. I don't go by what people say is normal.

there's not a thing wrong with it at all.  my children were all thinner, they run about 75% for height and 50% for weight and fell right into that range.  my dd is almost 3 and has just now hit 30 lbs.  if she wasn't as tall as she is then she would be a couple pounds lighter.

my youngest was 21 lbs at her 1 year check, but I don't expect her to gain much weight in the next year.  as much as she eats, she runs it right back off.

My son was about that at 2 1/2. He is normal and always has been. In the last year since then he has only gone up to about 33lbs that was at his check up two weeks ago.

Ummmm your ped is full of it. My 14 month old is 21 lbs and I have been told by 2 drs she is slightly underweight (not concerningly so). When my oldest was 2 yo she was 38 lbs and was only in the 70%. She is 3 1/2 now an is 42 lbs and 50%. I would get a second opinion. Its not alarming whatsoever but its something to watch

So what do they just gain weight very slowly or something after the first year? Like I said my DS was 24lbs at his last visit when he was 11 months. He'll be 1 in a couple days.

my DD will be 3 this month and she is 27lbs. My 16 month old DD is 23lbs and my 4 year old DS is 35lbs. All were born on time, and very healthy.

My dd is 37in and 28lbs at 2 1/2--she same size of my 3 1/2 year old nephew!  Kids grow differently and especially after the age of 18 months it starts to slow.

my SD is 3 and only weighs 28 lbs-- she is a little small, but still normal.
