I got the Nook for mothers day and I love it.  IT holds I believe 1500 books.  It goes on the internet.  I was on cafemom and checking my email the day I got it.  I believe mine is a good one, I only saw good reviews.

I have a Kindle. Mine with hold something like 500 books or something ridiculous ! I love mine the only downfall I have noticed so far is that it doesn't have a backlight so I had to purchase a light in order to read in dimmly lit areas. Other than that is great my battery lasts quite awhile too and on Amazon there are quite a few free downloads.

I was surprised at how many free books there are.  There are also many under $5.

I love my kindle, it holds almost 3000 books.

I love the wifi, so I can upload books when I am out.

The customer service is amazing.

The book prices are pretty cheap (they are normally cheaper than barnes and nobles ebook prices, they have the nook).  Do some looking around at ebook prices, almost all the time amazons prices are cheaper.

We have 5 kindles on one account, which means we can share everything.  Which makes it even a better deal for me.  I don't leave the house without my kindle.

I have the sony e-reader touch edition( was about 400)  I don't know how many books it holds (it is on the thousands) It has the Wi-fi so you can download books wirelessly from the reader store anywhere. It also has a built in dictionary and you can highlight text.  The sony can also support alot of different type of book formats (the kindle can't)

I get alot of books from the library on my e-reader. I don't even have to leave home...I just go into my library account and check what -ebooks I want and I can read them for 14 days on my reader.

If you seriously want to buy an e-reader I would look at reviews for them all on the websites or do a search. Kindle for example only supports certain book files(my sister has one) so you can only really get books from the amazon site.  The nook is great, it does have a lending feature but from what I read(we were going to get my mother one for mother's day) you can't lend all books, can only lend the book one time and the person only gets it for 14 days. Sony is good also but only the touch edition has wi-fi and you can only use it to access the sony e-book store.

So it all depends on what features you really want since each one has slighlty diffferent ones

I have not had a problem uploading any books on my kindle.  The only format I have not been able to get to my kindle, is the EPUB, which I believe are books from the library.

I download from just about every site out there for my kindle, including fan fiction sites (reading james potter right now).

Does your sister have the kindle cookbook?  It will teach her how to upload from just about everywhere.
