I just screamed that pretty loud at my kids and feel like crap for doing it.
But seriously I don't know what to do anymore.
My 12 yo. step daugther is fighting me about everything
My 10 week old starts screaming everytime I put her down..
And the cake topper.. My 25 month old is throwing herself to the ground and saying NO! to EVERYTHING!!! I have tried time outs, taking toys, yelling, and even a swat on the ass now and then. My mom swears that if I ignore her little tantrums they will go away. She has been doing this for like 2 months now.. perfectly coinciding with the new baby and sleeplessness..
What works when your kids try this?
I don't get it!
Please help!
I think your mom is right about the 2 year old. As long as tantrums gain her the attention that she's seeking, she will keep throwing them. Use time-outs, and REALLY ignore her - she'll stop. Also, it's ok for the baby to cry! You know this...if you KNOW that she's not hungry, wet, etc...then it's OK for her to cry for 5-10 minutes while you read a book or something with your 2 year old.
As for the 12 year old - that's tougher. Try making her a helper - earn allowance or privileges for helping out with the other 2.
Good luck! It'll get better - I promise!!
I have no real advise. Nothing that you haven't already tried anyway. My 18 month DD has started the NO! and throwing herself on the floor. If I need her to get out of or come here I move her to where I need her and then walk away. I've also started putting her in her room (with a baby gate for containment) for her fits. I let her cry for 1 minute then ask her if she's done. She will usually sign and say all done and I'll take her out. She's like a new child, for a little while anyway.
Know that you're not alone and that many of us (I think anyway) have days we feel the same way.
My grand baby does the same thing. We tell her to stop and try to help her understand that she is wrong for doing that. she usually calms down in a bit. she turned two not too long ago. my grandson has just started throwing himself soen and pitching his fits and he is only 8 months. i hope everything foes great for you
I also have a 12-year old daughter and a lot of it is the age for many of them, especially the girls (I've personally found, anyway). Talk to her. Lay down boundaries if you haven't done so and start taking away privileges. Our 12-year old is going through the sassy mouth stage right now and no longer has a cell phone because of it. I don't award bad behavior and to me, a cell phone is not a necessity for her; it's a luxury.
With respect to the infant, I'd check with your pediatrician just to rule out anything physical going on. I'm not suggesting there IS anything, but that was always a rule of thumb I followed.
The toddler is testing you and testing their own independence. It's normal. She knows you're tired and she might even be trying to get your attention away from the new baby.
As for reactions, sounds like you're human. The key is trying to reign in the frustration. If the toddler isn't hurting herself or anyone else or disrupting the baby's sleep time, let her holler a little. She might get bored with it.

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says~~ "Oh Crap, She's Up!"
ok.. this gives me some hope.. i just feel like I hate when I see kids in public telling their parents no and throwing tantrums when they are denied something and then my kid is doing it. Its been 2 months and she hasn't got her way yet!! When will she give it up??

You are probably right. She was excited when I was preggo and then when she met her sister she did a total 180... look at this pic in the hospital..

So the 25 month old is probably mad about the new baby, and the oldest is probably feeling pretty neglected with two babies in the house. It's natural really. Good luck though.
see mine is SOO defiant. when she gets mouthy i will separate her, put her in her room by herself and she will act right and then as soon as shes free again she starts acting crazy again! and lord help me if i try to get her to apologize

Lol! thank you. You are right. I just need to step back and ignore the tantrums. The 12 yo is a whole other can of worms and due to current sitch with her biomom my hands are tied.. but the 2 year old is throwing me over the top! The baby is such a clingy mommas baby which is good and bad at the same time you know? thank you though!
