Got a cat question...

My niece's cat just had kittens, and she wants me to take one because she knows it will be in a good home and that she will get to see it often as well. She had them right before Mother's day. I'm just wondering when it's ok to take the kitten away from it's momma. I know that if you do it too early it can hurt the kitten because they won't get the nourishment from the mom and may have health problems. I certainly don't want that to happen. Anyone know how long to wait? This would really help me. Thanks guys!

8 weeks is best. NO sooner than 6 weeks, but please tell her to wait until 8 weeks. They are WAY too young right now, you'd have to be bottle feeding them still which is not fun.
