Ummmm a REAL one? In NY and NH they have bats that fly around at night, so there if you built a bathouse and hung it like a birdhouse, they would take up residence during the day and fly at night. My dh's SD made one when he was little and they had regular bats.

there's tons of them here, so i could just box one up and ship it out to you, lol  but they're HUGE and not very cute (size of freaking house cats, and that's no exaggeration).  in all seriousness, i think start with an exotic pet store or research bat ownership might get you in touch with people who would know more.

From what it sounds like, it's illegal to own a bat as a pet anywhere in the US since so many of the different species are endangered. The only suggestion for one is to put up a bat house if they are native in your area.

 Isn't it illegal to have bats for pets?  LOL, aren't they wild animals?  I have never heard of a pet bat.
