Cold Cold would be the most energy eff. I believe.

TMK, you want cold cold. Washing machines just vary temperature by adding from the hot water line, so the coldest setting should be the most efficient.

Um, lol.

I think tap cold would probably be the most efficient. It sounds like maybe you have a water filter on your machine?

It SOUNDS like cool cold would be more efficient than cold cold because it sounds like cold cold actually uses a cooler to make the cold more cold.

God, try saying that five times fast.

Do you have the manual?

IDK, but a lot of machines (is it a newer one?) will have an asterisk * next to the most energy efficient one.  Hmm, I wonder if you were to take water samples of each kind of cold, if you'd be able to really tell the difference!

i will look for an asterisk, i'll run it and feel the water. why would anyone need all these settings? there's also warm cold, hot, etc etc etc. wtf?!

I've never heard of tap cold; I use either cool cold or cold cold, I believe cold cold is the most energy efficient.

I have never seen a washer with a setting that said "Tap cold" and are you saying you have two cold-cold settings that only say cold-cold?

EDIT - Oops mis-read cool ..sorry- still never heard of tap cold etc..What year /make washer do you have? Maybe google the settings?

The cold cold isn't just saying its super cold.   That's saying that its going to wash in cold water & rinse in cold water.  Warm cold would be washing in warm, rinsing in cold.  I've never heard of tap cold...that's a new one on me.  I would think cold cold is most energy efficient.
