Nasty comments, mean-spirited messages, online bullying... you think you can say whatever you want online, and nothing will happen.

Yes, it's bad behavior, but is it illegal? Sometimes, yes!

It happens on Facebook, Twitter, and dozens of social networking sites. But the next time you make a controversial or offensive comment online, you may be setting yourself up for a lawsuit.

What you write online is protected under the First Amendment free speech, as long as what you say is true. If it's not the truth, you could be crossing the line into libel and slander.

That's what I keep telling certain people on here, but they just don't seem to get it. Eventually they will. LOL
