I am curious when I see posts where women say they are trapped in their marriages because they have no money or job or anyone to turn to. It makes me sad to see women trapped in such terrible situations with nothing to fall back on.

I have never felt trapped at any point, and I know if I had to, I could stand on my own two feet...just wondering what others think about this...this isn't bashing anyone, so I am adding a poll for those who do not want to comment.

If we split neither of us could afford the life style we live now, which trust me isn't all that great. But either one of us could support ourself and our son on our own.

Yes. I have a degree in Cosmetology. I'd go back to that.

I could on a regular basis but not right now while I'm in treatment.

Yep, I wouldnt be able to stay in my house though, but I absolutely could afford an apartment or condo and everything else.  My mom MADE us all graduate from college for exactly that reason. She thought it might help and might come in handy.  I divorced my first husband and had to support my son.  Thank goodness I had a teaching job.

Yes, I could.  Maybe not to the level that we live now, but I made sure I could support myself before I ever got married/ had a baby.  I will teach my DD to do the same.

Absolutely.  Without a single doubt.
