To these moms:  I salute you.  I won't even trim my own bangs at home!

I had a homebirth with my youngest son. It was great!!

My only regret is that we did not get the pool filled in time so I couldn't have a water birth.

A midwife will also let you labor and birth any way you want. She had me feel the baby's head when it was coming out. She will also let your DH help catch the baby. She also waits until the cord stops pulsing before she cuts it. She does not take your baby away to be weighed or anything until you say it is ok.

My midwife gave me a link to order the supplies she required. I think it was In His Hands or something like that, 6 years ago. You tell them the midwifes name and they have a list of what you need. I think it was around $40-$50 for the supplies. It even included a little shirt that said I'm Special I Was Born at Home.

In the box was disposable bed sheets, bed pads, thermometer, KY jelly, clamp for the cord, thick trash bag, I can't remember what else. Basically everything disposable. Even came with a certificate for the baby's footprints and for the mid wife to sign.

I had my 4th at home in a birthing pool in our living room. My midwife brought the pool and I got everything else on her list, the majority was ordered as a birth kit at inhishands.com or something like that.
It was an amazing experience and so much better than any of my 3 hospital births.
Only regret not documenting it like I wanted to.
