Why do you suppose they don't have a vax for this one?

that is a GREAT question!  My three year old had it at the beginning of the month- it is awful- I took him to the DR cuz I thought he had an ear ache- he was being cranky and wouldn't eat- they said it was hand foot and mouth- they said it was "going around"        UGH       he didnt eat for three days  :(

I hope your daughter gets better soon!

They don't have a vaccine for HFM because there are many viruses that can result in HFM disease. Also, you typically develop immunity to each of those viruses upon having them. To vaccinate against HFM you would have to vaccinate against far too many viruses to make it worth it.

But, there are always new flu strains and they keep developing vaccines for that right?  Also, from what I've read, "most" HFM instances are from  coxsackieviruses.

Thanks, she is actually not in any distress, I just can't take her to daycare, UGH =0)

My oldest son got it. They gave him a cream and that was about it. Told him not to touch anyhting too much. The first sign for us was bumps on the palms of his hands and they soles of his feet.
