My DD will be 14 this month & has started looking for a part time job. Because she is so young several places have said they would require a work permit. Does anyone know what that is & how she gets one ?

I began working part time at an ice cream shop at 14.. which was in 2000. I had to get a work permit through the guidance counselor in school.

in alabama you have to go to the board of education to get one.

You can ask the school or you can ask your local city building.

I started working when I was 16. My mom just had to go down to the school and have them approve/issue it. I was also told that I had to maintain at least a C average, otherwise they'd revoke it.
