I was a nanny for a second grader...Her mom went over to Iraq.  She got herself where she needed to be on the first day of school.  When my step-daughter was a freshman in high school...yes, you're reading that right, her mother walked her to her first class.

I have  never seen parents walking their kids to class past Kindergarten.

with ds, i stopped when he was like in the 2nd grade.....dd starts kindergarten this year so it really depends on my kids...my son is outspoken and independent....dd is shy and nervous. if she wants me to walk her to class, then i will...lol.

My daughter is only 2.5 so I haven't at all yet but I will as long as she wants me to.  If she (and any future kids) are like me it will probably be longer than kindergarten because I was VERY shy!
