Need advice> Problem with Manager!

OK say I started this new job a month and half ago in AR. (Accounts Receivable). Since day one it has been very awkward. There are just three girls in the department at this time. My manager (her name is Mercy) Natalie, and myself. Mercy is probably one of the most unpleasant managers I have ever had to work with. My first day her nor Natalie said a word to me, except to train me on what I needed to do. For me, I basically did not feel welcome to be there. I mean I have never seen a manager not even ask, where am I from, like just simple questions to get to know who the person is she just hired. Aside from that she micro manages, the department in general is so unorganized and behind, and Accounts Payable is posting checks that typically in a regular AR department at other companies, it is supposed to be AR that posts not AP. The posting of the checks are 2 weeks behind! Another girl that was hired after me for a position in the AR department quit, along with another new girl from Accounts Payable on the same day. That just goes to show you how this company is moving along with employees. My manager and this other woman from AP just complain every single day, they are always pissed off about how the owner is handling everything, because the owner is basically at the office, and they deal with him frequently. It is just a very negative energy. Well there is a position open for the girl who left in our department. I saw the ad online, her title was "Chargeback Specialist" So that is what the ad said. Then I on Friday when I got home from work I saw an ad for my position!!!! I am like what the hell is going on? I have not done anything wrong, I have been to work on time each day, I do exactly what I am supposed to, and she does not know how I feel because I have not said anything to anyone. So what is the deal? Does she just not like me?

I have asked her how my work performance was a week ago, she said I was doing fine and her only issue was that she just wanted me to go faster, which I have.

So what do I do? Do I just start looking for a new job? Or say something at least to someone?

I don't want to be somewhere that I am unhappy, and I feel unappreciated, and the atmosphere to top it off.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I agree.  It's hard to work in a place that's not a nice place to work at.  I've been at a place where they told me they wanted me to work a little faster.  I really couldn't.  I would just start looking.  If you can, take a mini recorder and record you talking to her asking how your job performance is.  If it's really unpleasant I would start looking for another job.  Some places just aren't friendly to work for.  Good luck to you.

Because things are behind, they may have been given the go ahead to hire another person. You did say two quit also. Managers and people are not at jobs to be firend but to get work done. If the climate is negative, then do you best to make it positive. When I walk in I greet everyone with a global good morning and sit at my station. I go to work, do what I have to and go home. I've been there three years and one of my co-workers just found out how old I am. Oh, the do know the basics - divorced, children and attending school. If you feel it's time for a new job then go for it.

I would bring in the ad and ask. Better to know the truth and then you know what you need to do!
