In Indianapolis right now they do not have A/C in the Public schools... and we have Heat advisories Almost EVERYDAY!! Yesterday our heat index was 109 degrees, And They said that if your child does not attend they will contact CPS to investigate!! I'm sorry but my child will NEVER go to a school without A/C in this heat!!! with the Heat index then add 10000+ kids and adults and their body heat Its bullshit!!! They can afford to build a NEW stadium for our football team but they can't get the A/C fixed before school starts!!! its bullshit!! Children cannot concentrate in that kind of heat!! Not even the fact that heat stroke and Exhaustion is a BIG issue considering that IPS has a uniform that is hotter than Hell!!

I also understand that some of these kids going may not have A/C at home but there they can strip down and lay in front of a fan or go play in some water to keep cool!! They cannot do that at school!!

SO My Question is WOULD U send Ur child to a school without A/C in this kind of heat just because they might call CPS on u for it???

I know I wouldn't because IMO I am Protecting my child from a dangerous situation! and CPS could Kiss my ass!

Agreed! Both my kids are red head and fair skinned, so on really hot days I really dontclet them play out side. Since they aren't used to heat like that they would get sick for sure!

I am sure they have fans.  When I was teaching in WI our school didn't have air and we made due on the hot days with fans and water bottles for the kids.  It really wasn't that bad.  I think you are over reacting.

No I wouldn't. When I was in middle school, we had the chorus and music classes in the very top floor of the building with no a.c. and the windows were not allowed to be open because it was considered dangerous. I would get sick and nauseous and always came up with a reason to skip that class and go home for the day.  It was awful.

I went to school with no A/C in Missouri.  It sucked with the extreme heat and humidity, but we got out during the really hot days.  It was like a snow day, only opposite.  LOL!  If I sent my kids to public school, then yes, I would send them.

I think its fine that the days that its SUPER hot they just call school off but they won't... IPS sucks!!! last winter with the wind chill it was like 10- and kids in Indy STILL had to walk-Ride the buses to school! a LOT of kids missed school!

I'm from Texas, and when I went up to Philly to see my little brothers and sisters I found out they also have no AC in their highschool. I just thought that was the oddest thing. And they live in a upscale community. They joke that the kids bring deodorant to school cause everyone smells.

Yes I would. If I don't send my girls to school they give away their spot. My only choice at that point would be private school & no thank you. My girls have to wear uniforms too.

this is nuts... ac isnt standard here in co and im not sure if they have it in schools... my daughter prek does. I grew up in texas and we had ac in school i couldnt imagine trying to sit there in the heat and do school work. I would just homeschool in that case. but thats me.
