I'm making pot roast today and I just bought a little mccormick seasoning packet, and it says to either use red wine or water. Which is better?? Red wine sounds really good but I'd have to go to the store and buy some.

Umm I've never used it, we make the juice into a gravy!

I usually use a packet of Lipton Onion soup mix with the water.. Red wine is good with it though but use it very sparingly because it intensifies when baked or in the crockpot.  I'd try a soft red or a cooking sherry if it were me.

I use wine or even certain beers sometime for cooking all my meats. My husband LOVES it.

Wine is REALLY good in a pot roast. I make my spaghetti with wine sauce every time.  My family drools if I just say I am thinking about making spaghetti.  We also make our turkey with wine too. OMG YUM!!!!  We don't drink wine though.  Weird.  lol
