Ever since we've potty trained our 3 year old daughter she seems to only want to do number 1 on the potty. She's still in pull ups for naps and at night. She will poop during those times because she has the pull up on. Now she's pooped a few times in the potty and done very well, but she seems to refuse to poop on the potty and now I think it's been 2 days since she's pooped. It could be lack of fiber or whatnot that's backing her up but I think it's because she's afraid to go ON the potty. Any suggestions? They are GREATLY appreciated!

We had such an issue with my 3 year old. We go rounds about pooping. He does have seom belly isssues and takes meds every morning. But unless he has on a pull up he WILL NOT poop. I'm tired of going thru so many pull ups.
He didnt poop for 2 1/2 days. His little belly was all swollen. I felt awful. I was putting him on the potty constantly. But NOTHING.
I was sitting at the table drinking my coffee while he was eating. I realized I had to go big potty cuz of the coffee. So (bash away, I don't care!) I gave him some of my coffee.
We went outside and ran off the caffeine rush, but he pooped! Oh boy did he poop. In the potty!
and i cured his fear of the potty by putting his dvd player in the bathroom!

LOL, that's one way to get her to poop! Coffee makes me go. I just wish she would realize that it's OK to poop on the big potty.

I didn't have any problems with my dd going poopy on the potty. But we did use the 3 day potty training method and there are some tips in there about getting kids to go in the potty. If you like I could send you a copy of the ebook, just PM me with your email address.

If she is backed up, try a sepository. Give it about 15 minutes then set her on the potty and make her stay there. The sepository will make her go, she can't hold it in if that is what it turns out to be that she is doing. Maybe it will also help her to get over her fear of pooping on the potty. Start giving her an apple a day to help regulate her bowel movements if you aren't already. Hope that helps you mama.
At the time, in January, her favorite thing in the world was the little mermaid so I went to the Disney store and got her ten little gifts, wrapped them up, and out them in a bag. I told her I had presents for her and that if she would poop in the potty she would get to pick a gift and open it. Whaddya know! She pooped in the potty and has ever since. She loved all her little gifts and it worked like a charm! You could even go to the dollar store and do somethig similar. GL!
