It all started with not eating McDonalds anymore...Going natural

So, I have been watching documentaries lately. Just trying to inform myself of things that are going on around me. And doing research online as well. I've always been bothered by the fact that ALL 3 of my children have had stomach issues. Whether is be acid reflux, severe constipation....and I always tried to take the correct steps to help them and do what i could do to make it better. Until a year ago I was watching something about McDonalds. It showed how their food doesnt really age...it doesnt get gross and rot. It almost stays the same. Then about 7 or 8 months ago, I saw that they've found traces of ingredients that silly putty has in their chicken nuggets. I couldnt believe it. My kids would eat there maybe 1 time every 2 weeks. Kinda like a special treat for behaving and a part of our "take-out night" that we have. So, after i saw that i started really wondering about a lot of things. I started questioning these foods that we buy. So, I watched this documentary on Walmart. It was called "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices". I saw that in order to preserve their meats, they use carbon monoxide. They use fillers and solutions. WHY? Because consumers want to buy meat that looks fresh. I couldnt believe what i was seeing. So, then I really was wondering WHAT IS THIS DOING to us...we consume these meats, our children consume these meats. So, i started doing a lot of research on this. I was online and found another documentary called "Food, Inc." If you're wanting to go natural and/or organic or are just curious about the meat you are consuming...that your children are consuming...i suggest watching this one. All these brands we feed our kids...Tyson being one of them is mentioned in this film. My heart broke when the story about a 2yr old boy came on. He ate meat that was tainted with E-Coli. It could have been prevented, which is the sad thing.

Well, now I'm going all natural. I've looked up natural grocers in my area. I've completely stopped shopping @ Walmart and I've stopped buying all these oh-so-popular brands of food that are mass produced. I feel better about my children eating this stuff. I've also gone completely organic when it comes to my childrens toys. Toys that are sold to children contain SO many harmful chemicals...PVC plastic being one of them. They use PVC cause its cheap and they can make a bigger profit out of it. I've found "Green" bottles for my 5 month old. And "green" paci's for him too. The toys I found were made from recycled milk cartons and are BPA/Phthalate/Lead/PVC free. I just though some of you moms out there might appreciate this information. I wasnt really big on "all-natural/organic" stuff. But after doing my research and watching these documentaries...i really wanna protect my children.

**Back to what i had said before about my kids tummy probs, I changed baby over to Organic Formula (Earths Best). He used to use GentleEase. On gentle ease he was still spitting up every feed...constipated...and severe acid reflux...now, with him being on this organic formula, he hasnt spit up, his poopy is normal, AND! his acid reflux isnt as bad as it was last month. DD, who has has SEVERE constipation...doesnt have those issues anymore. We've been on all-natural/organic meats and veggies for a month and a half now...and DS doesnt even have acid reflux anymore. Guess thats why I'm sharing all this with you moms... :) **

welcome :) glad someone read it and commented. Like i said the documentaries are DEFINITELY worth checking out. Although, the "Food, Inc." one I wouldn't suggest you let your children watch. What happens to these animals gets kinda graphic.

I'm in the same boat momma, watched a bunch of docs. researched, now we are all organic (and still coupon) shop only Whole Foods and organic markdowns at Kroger and Giant Eagle to take advantage of their fuel programs, cloth diaper, no formula, no vaccinations, use holistic medicine before using conventional meds (but will use meds if necessary, I think there's a time and place for prescriptions but I believe they're HIGHLY overused).  We have even started to eat a semi-"raw" diet.  We got a dehydrator and an ice cream maker to use with raw recipes on clearance on Amazon (still a thrify shopper even doing raw and organic) (=

I don't think I can watch the documentaries as Im pregnant and squeamish about things I'm normally not. Thanks for the info though, glad to know Im not the only one who cares about what I  might actually be eating. My sister said that the earths best was an amazing formula, and when my child comes into the world, he too will be having that. Lol. She said that her baby almost never spit up with it, etc.

The more you know, the harder it gets. Just saying... I've seen those movies, I am trying really hard to switch to 100% organic and for the most part am natural about everything else. But just thinking back to what I didn't know then and what I know now, sometimes have the effect of making me feel guilty about what I did give my son, what I didn't do, etc... IDK if everyone, at some point, gets those feelings or if its just me, but it can make it harder lol.

Good luck with all that though and I am so glad your kids are doing better!

Just seeing Super Size Me scared me. Lol. I don't think I could handle watching Food Inc. I try to eat as healthy as I can. Its hard when you are the only one that cares. Its also hard when organic is so much pricier.

Thanks for the info mama. I don't think I'll be going to the lengths you do, but we already try to stick to horomone free meats and milk and more organic produce.
